These Dermal Anchors are a new product & a new procedure that has just been integrated into the piercing industry in the last year. When they first were introduced  to the piercers, there where no instructions as to how they should be put in properly. Most Piercer with a broad range of knowledge and experience as a professional piercer, usually find these implants no problem what so ever, but I have watched a few  so called piercers on the internet and most of the ones I have seen are a joke. There is too much blood and to much time wasted on the procedure before they even insert the jewellery. This is totally uncalled for and not necessary, to put the client through  such pain that is involved in doing it that way. I was asked by my Jewellery Supplier to try one on him, and videotape it to be placed on his website. But I declined until I had actually tried a few. The next day I offered to do one for free on a student  from one of my classes, in order to gain some experience and not be exposed as an amateur like those on line. My student chose the back of his wrist and it was as easy as doing any piercing. It healed quickly and without any complications or discomfort.  There was very little if any bruising and he just loves it. The whole thing took no more that 5 minutes and there was hardly any blood or pain to speak of. I have since implanted 2 on a dancers' cheek, and 2 on the cheek of a young man a week later, all  of which healed without any complications. The cheek did show a tiny bit more bruising than the wrist, but nothing to make it obvious. So if you want to be the first in your group to get one, come in and see me.

CLEANING

The cleaning and care is very simple: you don't want to move it much while healing, because the skin has to grow into the holes in the plate that is implanted under the skin. If  you constantly move it or twist it or lift up on it, you will disturb the tissue trying to anchor it in place, and will not heal properly. So just be very gentle when cleaning it. Use a Q-tip with warm water to go around the disc gathering any crust or  dried blood that is present around the disc. Once you have removed the dried crust, then use another Q-tip with Spectro-Jel on it and clean one more time, rinsing off any Spectro-Jel remaining on the area. Pat dry and don't touch until the next cleaning.  Do this procedure 3 times a day for a month, then 2 times a day for 1 more month, and then just clean it once a day forever. Do not use Alcohol, bactine, Hydrogen Peroxide, or any type of ointments what-so-ever.
